Nootdorp (The Netherlands), September 4 2015

Avanca International, one of the fastest growing European companies for mobile lifestyle accessories, launches a new hardware brand during IFA (Berlin, September 4-9): Ockel.

The launch of Ockel includes 4 hardware products. Sirius B is a Windows 10 powered pocket PC, only slightly larger than a smartphone. Fusion C and Fusion H are the first members of a mini PC family and are, like Sirius B, equipped with the newest Windows operating system. The Ockel line-up is completed with an Android 4.4 Kitkat operated 4K UHD media player named Nebula.

Founder and CEO of Avanca and Ockel Tim Haaksma is excited about the launch of the new brand. “Since the existence of Avanca our objective has been to discover the stars of tomorrow by exploring the world today. The consumer and technology trend of portability, being connected 24/7 and the tremendous amount of media that people share and consume everyday have led to the development of Ockel. Our experience in the world of mobile lifestyle accessories gives us the knowledge and access to a network of suppliers and distributors necessary to successfully introduce this new hardware brand.” Ockel is hoping to establish several (retail) partnerships during IFA.

The name of the brand is inspired by the last name of Wubbo Ockels, the first Dutch citizen in space. A passion for space objects and the desire to express the Dutch roots in de brand name were drivers behind the choice of the brand name. All 4 models carry the name of objects or processes that are part of the lifecycle of stars.

The first Ockel models are expected to hit (online) stores in October and have an estimated retail price between €150 and €250.
